Method of inspection
Note: ‘Chassis’ includes the underframe on integrally constructed vehicles.
Examine the presence and condition of:
- Mountings
- Subframes
and their security to the chassis and check for:
- Looseness
- Fractures
- Deterioration
Reason for rejection

| Insecure but unlikely to detach or fail | MINOR | |
| Damaged or deteriorated to the extent that it is likely to fail | MAJOR |
If a security bracket to stop the engine or transmission falling in their mountings fails or is absent or deteriorated, this is not a reason for rejection, but the driver should be told.
