    • Roads

    Date published: 10 July 2023

A street lighting upgrade scheme within Broadway Underpass on A12 Westlink will begin on Monday 24 July 2023 and is expected to last twelve weeks.

The scheme will involve the replacement of the existing underpass lighting with a new energy efficient dynamic LED Tunnel Lighting and Control System.

To complete the scheme safely, it will be necessary to implement a series of overnight closures, in each direction, of the underpass between 11:00 pm and 6:00 am from Monday to Friday. Diversionary routes will be clearly signed.

The Department has carefully planned these works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public, however road users should allow additional time when planning their journeys.

Completion of the work by 13 October 2023 is subject to favourable weather conditions, however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change.

    Notes to editors:

    1. The work will be carried out by Highway Management (City) Ltd, as part of their Design, Build, Finance and Operate (DBFO) contract and the main contractor for the works is GR White & Son LTD.
