A £300,000 road improvement scheme on the B8 Newry Road at the Ballydoo and Edentrumly Road junctions is nearing completion.

    Resurfacing work

Works are substantially complete on this scheme to improve the road alignment and forward visibility on the B8 Newry Road between Mayobridge and Hilltown. This will also increase the visibility for traffic exiting the Ballydoo and Edentrumly road junctions and will result in improved safety for road users in this area.

Final resurfacing is planned for week commencing Monday 30 April 2018. In order to carry out the operation safely and effectively a road closure will be necessary until Saturday 5 May 2018.

Traffic from Newry will be diverted via the A25 Rathfriland Road, Newry Street and Downpatrick Street, Rathfriland and the B25 Hilltown Road.

Traffic travelling towards Newry will be diverted via the B25 Rathfriland Road, Downpatrick Street and Newry Street, Rathfriland and the A25 Newry Road.

The works operations and traffic management arrangements have been carefully programmed in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
