  • £240,000 road improvement scheme at Dargan Road, Belfast

    • Road users

    Date published: 20 July 2017

A £240,000 resurfacing scheme on Dargan Road in Belfast is due to commence on 28 July 2017.

    Traffic movement during resurfacing work

Resurfacing the eastbound stretch of the carriageway from Fortwilliam roundabout to Duncrue Crescent will be carried out over three weekends beginning on Friday 28 July with completion on Sunday 13 August. This scheme will strengthen the road structure and deliver an improved carriageway surface.

To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors the eastbound carriageway from the Fortwilliam roundabout to Duncrue Crescent will be closed during the following dates and times:

    • Friday 28 July at 7.30 pm until Monday 31 July at 6.00 am
    • Friday 4 August at 10.30 am until Monday 7 August at 6.00 am
    • Saturday 12 August at 6.00 am until Sunday 13 August at 6.00 pm

Diversionary routes will be clearly signed. Whilst the Department for Infrastructure has carefully planned these works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public, motorists should expect delays and allow additional time when planning a journey to Belfast docks.

The dates and duration of the road closures will be dependent on the progress of the scheme and on favourable weather conditions. In order to help ensure the safety of road users and road workers the public is asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with care when travelling through, or in the vicinity, of the works.
