Regional Transport Strategy

The Regional Transport Strategy for Northern Ireland 2002-2012 (RTS) for identifies strategic transportation investment priorities and considers potential funding sources and affordability of planned initiatives over the strategy period.

The RTS is a 'daughter document' of the Regional Development Strategy (RDS) for Northern Ireland 2025 which sets out the spatial development framework for Northern Ireland up to 2025.

The purpose of the RTS is to support the RDS and to make a significant contribution over the 10 years towards achieving the longer-term vision for transportation contained in the RDS:

'to have a modern, sustainable, safe transportation system which benefits society, and the environment and which actively contributes to social inclusion and everyone's quality of life'.
