Regional Strategic Transport Network Transport Plan

A summary of the Regional Strategic Transport Network Transport Plan.

Transport plan 2015

The Regional Strategic Transport Network Transport Plan 2015 has been prepared by the former Department for Regional Development, now the Department for Infrastructure. The Plan is based on the guidance set out in the Regional Development Strategy (RDS) and the Regional Transportation Strategy (RTS).

The Regional Strategic Transport Network of Northern Ireland comprises the complete rail network, five Key Transport Corridors (KTCs), four Link Corridors, The Belfast Metropolitan Transport Corridors and the remainder of the trunk road network.

The Regional Strategic Transport Plan presents a range of multi-modal transport initiatives to manage, maintain and develop Northern Ireland's Strategic Transport Network. The implementation of the road improvement initiatives will depend on the availability of finance, completion of relevant statutory procedures and economic appraisals.
