Road resurfacing scheme for C191 Kennedies Road, Tynan

Date published: 16 August 2021

A £450,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme for Kennedies Road, Tynan will commence on 18 August 2021

Lane closure during resurfacing work

The improvement work will extend approximately 3.1 kilometres from its junction with the A28 Killylea Road to Tynan Village.

Minister Mallon said:

“This significant investment will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of the road network to the benefit of all who use it.  I would like to thank local residents and businesses in advance for their cooperation and ask that they comply with all temporary traffic restrictions while these much needed works are completed.”

To facilitate the works, it will be necessary to implement a road closure which will be in place from 8.00 am until 5.30 pm each day from Wednesday 18 August until Friday 3 September 2021. The road will be open evenings and at weekends.

During periods of closure traffic will be diverted via the A28 Killylea Road, B210 Coolkill Road, U8722 Chapel Hill Road and C191 Main Street, Tynan.

Local access for residents and emergency services will be maintained at all times although some delays may be experienced.

The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public.  Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to follow the alternative routes which will be clearly signed on the approaches to the closure.

Completion of the work by 3 September is dependent on favourable weather conditions.  The Department will keep the public informed of any change. All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
