Update: M2 to close between Junctions 4 and 5 in both directions tonight as works progress ahead of schedule
Date published:
A £1.5m major resurfacing scheme on the M2 Motorway between junctions 4 and 5 has progressed ahead of schedule and will now be completed this weekend.
The Department has therefore brought forward plans to close the M2, to remove the contraflow and allow the central reserve vehicle restraint system (VRS) to be reinstalled, from Sunday night to tonight (Friday).
This now means the M2 Motorway will be totally closed in both directions overnight from 8pm on Friday 24 July until 7am on Saturday 25 July 2026 between Junction 4 Sandyknowes and Junction 5 Templepatrick. A diversionary route will be signed via A6 Antrim Road – A6 Ballyclare Road – A57 Ballyclare Road.
The road will then be fully reopen to traffic in both directions from Saturday 25 July at 7am.
The Department would like to thank road users for their co-operation while these works have taken place.
