    Date published: 9 October 2024

A £330,000 carriageway and footway resurfacing scheme on the Forthriver Road, Belfast commenced on Tuesday 8 October 2024.

    Road resurfacing

The resurfacing scheme extends from 150m in advance of the junction of Forthriver Way to 150m beyond the junction of Forthriver Crescent.

    Minister O’Dowd said:

“This substantial investment of £330,000 for North Belfast will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users who travel through this area and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network and creating further opportunities for active travel, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”

To facilitate the works, it will be necessary to implement localised lane closures initially with a full road closure to follow when the carriageway works commence. The majority of the scheme will be completed during the hours of 08:00hrs to 18:00hrs, Monday to Friday. Full details of closures will be displayed in advance.

The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience however, while steps have been taken to accommodate local access, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.

Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works will be substantially complete by Friday 20 December 2024, however the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
