The scheme, which will also refresh the advanced stop lines for cyclists, stretches from Queen’s Road to Hillsborough Road, and will deliver significant benefits for all road users.

The work will be carried out overnight and a full road closure will operate between the hours of 7.00 pm and 6.00 am from Monday 31 August until Saturday 5 September.

During these times a diversionary route will operate via Linenhall Street, Smithfield Street, Hillsborough Road, Market Place, Bow Street, Antrim Street, Bachelors Walk, Railway Street, Market Square, Market Street and Linenhall Street.

The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience, however, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.

Subject to favourable weather conditions all work will be completed by Saturday 5 September, however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change.

All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
