Resurfacing scheme for Main Street, Pomeroy

Date published: 10 January 2024

A resurfacing scheme on the B4 Main Street, Pomeroy will commence on Monday 22 January 2024.

Road resurfacing

The work includes carriageway strengthening and resurfacing of 400 metres of the B4 from the Limehill Road to Edendoit Road.

To help ensure the safety of those using the road and to facilitate the works it will be necessary to operate a full road closure on the B4 Main Street, between Limehill Road and Edendoit Road, during certain periods.

The first road closure will commence on Monday 22 January through to Friday 26 January.

The second road closure will commence on Monday 5 February through to Friday 9 February.  During this week The Diamond will also be closed for a day to allow for resurfacing there also.

During these road closures a two-way signed diversionary route will be in place via the B4 from Pomeroy to Carrickmore, the B46 from Carrickmore to the A505 Barony Road, B4 Pomeroy Road, Cookstown to Pomeroy and vice versa.

For the week between the above road closures, Monday 29 January to Friday 2 February, two-way traffic will be maintained via lane closures under traffic signal control. During this period, works will take place each day between 9.00 am and 4.30 pm with Main Street reopened to all traffic outside of these times.

On-street parking along Main Street throughout the full period of the works will not be possible at any time of the day.  Footways will remain open at all times.

Subject to favourable weather conditions all work will be completed by 9 February 2024.  The Department will keep the public informed of any change.

The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience, however, drivers should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time for their journey.

In order to help ensure the safety of road users and road workers the public is asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with extra care when travelling in the vicinity of the works.
