    Date published: 10 February 2022

Edenderry Road, Belfast will benefit from a £25,000 resurfacing scheme which is due to commence on Monday 14 February 2022.

    Resurfacing work

The scheme which extends from Ruby Cottages to the Ballynahatty Road will be completed under week day road closures, between the hours of 9.00 am and 5.00 pm, from Monday 14 February until Friday 18 February 2022 (excluding Wednesday).

There is no diversionary route as this is the only road into Edenderry Village. Residents are asked to time their journeys to the start and end of the work time.

Preparation work is programmed for the Monday and Tuesday and the contractor should be able to accommodate some movement of through traffic with some delay. However there will be delays on Thursday once the resurfacing machinery is on site as the machinery takes up the full width of this rural road.

    Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said:

“This investment will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this transport link. I would like to thank the travelling public and local residents in advance for their cooperation while these much needed works are completed.”

The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public, however road users should allow additional time when planning their journey and comply with all temporary traffic restrictions

Completion of the work by 18 February is subject to favourable weather conditions, however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change. All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
