    Date published: 22 November 2023

Repair work to the Quoile Bridge, Downpatrick will begin on Monday 27 November.

    Resurfacing work

In order to facilitate the repairs to a masonry bridge parapet which was damaged by a passing vehicle the road will be closed for approximately three weeks from 12 noon Sunday 26 November.

An alternative route for traffic will be via A22 Old Belfast Road, A25 New Bridge Street, A7 Belfast Road / Downpatrick Road / Downpatrick Street, B7 Killyleagh Street / Road, B7 Ballytrim Road / Crossgar Road / Shrigley Road / High Street and A22 Downpatrick / Killyleagh Road.

The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public. Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to follow the alternative routes which will be clearly signed on the approaches to the closure.

Completion of the work is dependent on favourable weather conditions. The Department will keep the public informed of any change. All work will be carried out in line with current public health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
