    Date published: 19 February 2018

The new LED lighting will increase reliability and reduce maintenance on this busy road, saving energy and maintenance costs in the long term.

LED Street Lighting scheme on Bangor Road

The existing lighting systems along this stretch of the A2 were more than 40 years old and suffered from increasingly frequent outages over recent years.

This replacement work follows on from similar lighting replacement works completed last year at the Springhill intersection where the existing high mast units were replaced with conventional lighting columns, also using LED light sources.

    Notes to editors:

In total 274 lanterns were replaced between the A2 and the Springhill Junction.
