Mallon’s green agenda continues as electric vans go into service

Date published: 06 July 2021

Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon’s green agenda continues as two new electric vans go into service in the Department.

The electric vans which will be used by the Department’s Roads and Rivers staff are part of the Minister’s drive to reduce carbon emissions in the Department’s operational fleet.

Minister Mallon said:

“I have an ambitious vision for a low carbon future and I am committed to delivering cleaner, greener, sustainable infrastructure.  If we are serious about this very important issue, leadership is needed to drive this programme forward.

"Today is another step forward towards the use of low carbon vehicles for operational business in my Department.

"Indeed across my portfolio,  I am pleased that my Department and its Arms-Length Bodies in NI Water and Translink are making the same moves towards the use of electric vehicles.

"These are the changes we need to see to help us tackle climate change and contribute to better health outcomes for all our population. I will continue to make positive steps to choose cleaner, greener travel.”
