    Date published: 10 November 2020

A £200,000 resurfacing scheme on Main Street, Conlig will commence on Monday 16 November 2020.

    Road resurfacing

The resurfacing work will extend for a distance of approximately 700 metres from its junction with the A21 Newtownards Road, close to its junction with Moyne Road. The scheme includes resurfacing of the carriageway, footways and upgrading of road drainage.

Traffic management measures will be in place from Monday 16 November until Friday 18 December between the hours of 9.00 am and 5.00 pm.

Due to the nature of the scheme it will be also necessary to operate a daily weekday road closure (Monday to Friday) between the hours of 9.00 am and 5.00 pm from Monday 23 November to Friday 11 December 2020. During these times a diversion will be in place with traffic being diverted via the A21 Newtownards Road, and Main Street Conlig.

The road will be open to traffic in the evenings during the week and all day Saturday and Sunday. Local access for residents and emergency services will be maintained at all times during the works.

Completion of the work by 18 December is subject to favourable weather conditions, however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change.

The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public. Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to follow the alternative routes which will be clearly signed on the approaches to the closure.

All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
