On-Street Parking
Date published:
The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) has made a Statutory Rule entitled “The On-Street Parking (Amendment No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2026”, (S.R. 2026 No. 167), which comes into operation on 24 October 2026.
The Rule amends the On-Street Parking Order (Northern Ireland) 2000 (“the 2000 Order”) by introducing changes to how pay and display machines operate and a requirement for drivers to input the Vehicle Registration Mark (VRM) when purchasing a parking event linking the payment to a specific vehicle. This Rule also provides for the purchase of parking events through Department approved cashless applications offering an alternative digital method of payment.
A copy of the Rule may be viewed at DfI offices during office hours (Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.) by appointment only. Appointments can be arranged either by email to traffic.eastern@infrastructure-ni.gov.uk or tnindcraigavon@infrastructure-ni.gov.uk or by telephone on 0300 200 7899.
