Northern Ireland planning statistics April - June 2022

Report on the volume of planning applications received and decisions issued in the first quarter of 2022/23. This bulletin reports on activity and performance following the transfer of planning powers to councils in April 2015.  The accompanying Excel tables contain the information underlying the charts and graphs featured in the bulletin as well as further analyses and breakdowns.

Impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic: Planning activity and processing performance in 2020/21 and 2021/22 were impacted by the restrictions put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic. Also, during January and February of 2022 the Northern Ireland Planning Portal was inaccessible for a period of time. These factors should be borne in mind and caution should be taken when interpreting these figures and when making comparisons with other time periods.
