  • Extending the hours in which driving test are available - screening form

    Date published: 30 October 2017

The Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) programme of training encourages learner drivers to practice in a range of lighting conditions including after sundown.  GDL recognises the need for candidates to be taught night-time driving techniques, due to the fact that a high proportion of road traffic collisions happen in darkness.

It seems sensible to provide candidates with the option of being testing at night as it will provide a link between training and the test. Providing tests at night will also provide more flexibility to candidates who might find it difficult to attend a test at other times of the day due to work or other commitments.
