  • Amendment to - The Taxis (Taximeters, Devices and Maximum Fares) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2021 - Screening form

    Topics:
    • Road users

    Date published: 11 August 2022

The purpose of the amendment is to support the Northern Ireland taxi industry which since the Covid pandemic has undergone serious challenges. These challenges have now been further compounded by the current cost of living increases, particularly in relation to fuel and depot rents. The increase to the current maximum taxi fare tariff aims to retain existing drivers and encourage new drivers into the industry. It is also anticipated that any additional drivers into the industry might boost the night time economy.
