  • Amend legislation and update the NI Highway Code to facilitate remote control parking - Screening form

    Topics:
    • Road users

    Date published: 23 February 2018

The Department is proposing to make changes to NI legislation, to facilitate the use of remote control parking (RCP) which is a form of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) technology. The NI Highway Code will also have to be amended to include this regulatory change which will assist in providing clarity to drivers on the use of ADAS within Northern Ireland.

The aim of the policy is to develop policy and make appropriate regulatory changes to facilitate the safe use of this new and innovative technology in a responsive and evidence-based manner so that vehicles with this new technology installed can be used on our roads safely and drivers will know what the regulatory requirements are in using this technology without any ambiguity.
