Updated traffic management arrangements for Gortin Road improvement scheme, Omagh

As part of the Mountjoy Road / Gortin Road widening scheme a continuous one-way road closure will be in place on the Strathroy Road for five weeks, commencing on Monday 21 September until Friday 23 October.

The Strathroy Road will be closed to all traffic in the direction of Gortin Road from Shergrim Glen. Strathroy Road will remain open to traffic travelling from Gortin Road.

During this closure a signed diversion will be in place as follows:

Main Diversion: U1528 Strathroy Road, B0048 Strathroy Link Road, B0048 Derry Road, B0048 Abbey Street, B0048 McConnell Place, B0048 Sedan Avenue, B0048 Mountjoy Road, B0048 Gortin Road.

Please note the one-way closure will remain continuous over the weekends.

The arrangements are necessary to allow for the completion of the works whilst ensuring the safety of both those undertaking the works as well as the travelling public.

The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public. Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to follow the alternative route which will be clearly signed on the approaches to the closure. Access for property owners and deliveries will be accommodated.

Completion of the work is subject to favourable weather conditions, however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change. All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
