A carriageway resurfacing scheme on the Avenue Road, Lurgan commenced on Monday 3 July 2023.

    Resurfacing work

The works, which extend for a distance of approximately 0.7 kilometres, will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the road.

Daytime lane closures will be in place between U1416 Park Avenue and B2 Dromore Road Monday to Saturdays, 21 August 2023 to 16 September 2023 from 09.30 to 16.30.

The road will be open in the evening and overnight except from 18.30 to 06.00 commencing Monday 21 August 2023 to Monday 28 August 2023 when to allow for the safe completion of the resurfacing it will be necessary to close the road from its junction with U1416 Park Avenue to its junction with B2 Dromore Road.

There will be a further road closure from 06.00 to 18.00 on Sunday 03, 10 and 17 September 2023.

The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience, however, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions. Local access for residents and emergency services will be maintained, however some minor delays may be experienced.

The Department will continue to keep the public informed and diversionary routes will be clearly signed.

Subject to favourable weather conditions all work will be completed by 17 September 2023, however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
