The scheme, which stretches from Main Street to Castle View, also includes localised widening of footpaths to help with social distancing and to deliver significant benefits for pedestrians.

To facilitate the resurfacing a weekday road closure (Monday to Friday) will be in operation between the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm, from Monday 27 July until early October 2020.  A later start time of 9.30 am will come into operation once schools return to permit safe and unhindered access for students.

Further road closures will be required at weekends for final resurfacing work. The Department will provide prior notification of the closures once the dates are confirmed.

During times of closure a diversionary route will be clearly signed and will operate along Deramore Ave, Old Kilmore Rd, Oldfort Pk, Kilmore Rd and vice versa. Access for residents will be maintained throughout the scheme.

The Department has carefully programmed the scheme in order to minimise disruption, however, road users may experience some delays and should allow additional time when planning any journeys.

It is expected work will be substantially completed by early October, however, this  is subject to favourable weather conditions and the Department will keep the public informed of any change. All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
