  • £700,000 road improvement scheme in Armagh

    Date published: 18 July 2017

A £700,000 resurfacing scheme on the A3 Mall West, the A29 Lonsdale Road and Little Barrack Street, Armagh is due to commence on 24 July 2017.

    Road resurfacing

The scheme is being carried out by the Department for Infrastructure in partnership with the Department for Communities and Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council. It will involve the strengthening and resurfacing of 600 metres of road and footways along with ancillary works. The work is due to be completed by mid September.

To facilitate the scheme, temporary footway, road and lane closures will be in place. Traffic will be prohibited from using Mall West in the Gaol Square direction from 24 July 2017 to 4 September 2017. It will be diverted along College Hill, Drumadd Road, Victoria Street and Gaol Square.

The Department and works contractor aim to keep disruption to a minimum, however delays should be expected and drivers and pedestrians are asked to be patient and to allow additional time when planning journeys in the area whilst the improvements are being carried out.

As with all work of this nature, adverse weather can impact on the completion date. The Department will advise the public should any delays arise which may change the planned works schedule.
