£60,000 resurfacing work on A6 Hillhead Road

Date published: 02 May 2017

A £60,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme will be carried out on the A6 Hillhead Road, Toomebridge at The Elk Bar and Restaurant.

Road resurfacing

The work, which is due to commence at 8.00 pm on Friday 5 May, will extend for a distance of approximately 350 metres, from Blackpark Road to the Creagh Roundabout on the Toome Bypass.

The work is expected to be completed by 6.00 pm on Saturday 6 May 2017.

Given the nature of the works and to help ensure the safety of road users and those carrying out the works, a road closure for through traffic is required for the duration of the works.

During the road closure, east bound traffic will be diverted via Blackpark Road, Creagh Road, Hillhead Road and back onto the A6 Toome Bypass at the Hillhead Road / Toome Bypass junction.

West bound traffic will be diverted off the A6 Toome Bypass at its junction with Hillhead Road and via Hillhead Road, Creagh Road, Aughrim Road, Magherafelt Bypass and back out onto the A6 at Castledawson Roundabout.

Advanced warning signage for the closure will be provided and diversion routes will be signed as necessary.

The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and the Department will keep the public informed of any change.

The Department has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however, motorists should be aware that some delays should be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
