    Date published: 20 July 2022

A £500,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on the A26 Newbridge Road will commence on Monday 25 July 2022.

    Road resurfacing

The resurfacing works will extend approximately 110m west from Wattstown Roundabout towards the Causeway Hospital and east from Wattstown Roundabout to Windyhall. The resurfacing works will deliver significant improvements to both the structural integrity and surface quality of this busy trunk road for many years to come.

To minimise disruption on this busy section of road the works will be carried out using night time closures from 7pm to 7am Monday to Friday for the duration of the works. The scheme is expected to be completed by 12 August 2022.

During the road closure through traffic bound for Coleraine will be diverted at the Portrush Road Roundabout at Ballymoney, via Ballybogey Road and Ballyrashane Road to Ballycastle Road Roundabout. Ballymoney bound traffic will be diverted at Lodge Road Roundabout along the same route to Ballymoney. Diversions for local traffic will be signposted.

The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience, however, drivers should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the area.

In order to help ensure the safety of road users and road workers the public is asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with extra care when travelling in the vicinity of the works.

The Department will keep the public informed of any changes to the programmed works.
