    Date published: 25 May 2018

A £343,000 road improvement scheme on the A2 Ardglass to Strangford Road at Chapeltown starts on Tuesday 29 May 2018.

    Raking whilst resurfacing a footway

The scheme, which will involve drainage works and the resurfacing of a 2 kilometre stretch of the A2 Strangford Road from its junction with Sheepland Road through Chapeltown to 150m beyond Church Road junction, will deliver significant improvements to both the structural integrity and surface quality of the road. The work is expected to take 8 weeks to complete.

A significant proportion of the preparation work will be carried out under traffic control with a lane closure to operate from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm daily Monday to Friday. A road closure will be required to complete resurfacing with details of the closure and the associated diversion routes to be confirmed at a later date.

The Department has programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however, drivers should expect some delays and are advised to leave additional time when travelling in the area.

The dates and duration of the works will be dependent on the progress of the scheme and on favourable weather conditions.
