£315,000 resurfacing scheme on A29 Cookstown Road, Carland

Date published: 07 August 2017

A £315,000 resurfacing scheme on the A29 Cookstown Road Carland is due to commence on Monday 14 August 2017.

Road resurfacing

The works, which will extend for a distance of 1.1 kilometres from the previously completed works at Carland to Agharan crossroads, are expected to be completed by Saturday 19 August 2017.

This significant investment will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this busy strategic road and address ongoing maintenance problems associated with the road.

Preliminary works, including upgrading the drainage system, have commenced requiring some traffic control measures along the route.

Given the nature of the works and the restricted road width it will be necessary to close the road to vehicular traffic in both directions from Monday 14 August until Saturday 19 August 2017. Traffic will be diverted via Newmills.

Advance warning signs will be erected to advise motorists of the closure and diversion route.  Local access for residents and businesses will be facilitated during the road closure.

The Department has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
