    Date published: 4 September 2017

A £185,000 road improvement scheme at Belfast Road, Ballygowan, is due to commence preparation work on 11 September 2017 with carriageway resurfacing scheduled to commence on 29 September 2017.

    Lane closure during resurfacing work

The scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of a 700 metre section of carriageway on this important A class road between Ballygowan and Belfast. It is expected to be substantially completed by mid-October 2017.

To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors it will be necessary to operate temporary traffic signals for lane closures throughout the works.

A full road closure will be required during the following weekend dates:-

    • Friday 29 September 2017
    • Saturday 30 September 2017
    • Saturday 07 October 2017

Local access will be maintained and all diversions and restrictions will be clearly signposted.

The planned dates for the scheme are subject to favourable weather conditions and the Department will keep the public informed of any change.

The works operations and traffic management arrangements have been carefully programmed in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
