Raking whilst resurfacing a footway

The resurfacing work, from 642 Crumlin Road to the Ligoniel Road junction, will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway. It is expected to be completed by Monday 28 August.

To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors the resurfacing will be carried out under the following road closures:

  • Monday 21 August to Friday 25 August, a one – way closure of the country-bound lane from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm
  • Sunday 27 August, due to the recent inclement weather the planned full closure of Crumlin Road will not go ahead.
  • Monday 28 August, a full road closure in both directions from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm
  • Tuesday 29 August, one way closure to out of town traffic from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm
  • Wednesday 30 August, one way closure to out of town traffic from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm

Diversionary routes will be signed and access for residents will be maintained in the area during the duration of the works.

The dates and duration of the road closures will be dependent on the progress of the scheme and on favourable weather conditions.

Whilst the Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, motorists should expect delays and allow additional time when planning any journey.
