£100,000 bridge parapet replacement scheme for A6 Maghera Flyover

Date published: 08 March 2021

A £100,000 parapet upgrade on the Maghera Flyover Bridge on the A6 Glenshane Road is due to commence on 15 March 2021.

The proposed works involve the replacement of the existing parapet, along with the upgrade of the vehicle restraint systems adjoining the bridge, to meet current standards.

To facilitate the works it will be necessary to implement a temporary speed limit and lane closure each weekday (Monday to Friday) between 9.30 am and 4.00 pm. The lane closure will be removed when no works are taking place.

The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public. Road users are advised to avoid the area whenever possible and to allow extra time for their journey.

Completion of the work by 17 April is subject to favourable weather conditions and the Department will keep the public informed of any change.  All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.

In the interests of public safety and the safety of the contractor’s workforce the public is asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with extra care when travelling in the vicinity of the works.
