    Date published: 3 September 2024

A road improvement scheme on Wandsworth Road, Belfast is due to commence on Monday 9 September 2024.

    Road resurfacing

The scheme which extends between Hawthornden Road and Belmont Road will involve the resurfacing of the footways and carriageway.

To facilitate the work it will be necessary to implement daily road closures between the hours of 8.00 am and 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday.

    Minister O’Dowd said:

“This substantial investment of £400,000 for East Belfast will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users who travel through this area and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network and creating further opportunities for active travel, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”

The Department for Infrastructure has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however road users should expect some delays and allow additional time when planning their journey. Access and egress for residents and businesses will be maintained at all times and additional information signage for businesses in the area will be erected.

Subject to favourable weather conditions all work will be completed by 16 December 2024. Any changes to the programmed dates will be advertised on the TrafficWatchNI website when details are confirmed.
