  • Minister Kimmins announces £469,000 road improvement schemes for Rathmore Road and Scriggan Road, Limavady

    Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that £469,000 carriageway resurfacing schemes on the Rathmore Road and Scriggan Road, Limavady is commencing today.

    The resurfacing schemes will include the Rathmore Road, from its junction with Broad Road and extend approximately 694m towards Church Street and Scriggan Road for approximately 434m from its junction with Rathmore Road to its junction with Dowland Road.

    Minister Kimmins said: 

    “This is a substantial investment for the Limavady area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”

    To facilitate the safe delivery of these schemes it will be necessary to implement the following daily road closures:-

    • A371 Rathmore Road (which will be operational daily from 09:30 to 16:30, Monday 12 January 2026 until Friday 16 January 2026)
    • U2510 Scriggan Road (which will be operational daily from 08:00 to 18:00, Monday 12 January 2026 until Friday 16 January 2026). 

    During these times, signed diversionary routes will be in place via:-

    • Diversion 1: A37 Broad Road-A2 Windyhill Road-A2 Ballykelly Road-A371 Station Road-A371 Main Street-A371 Main Street Roundabout-A371 Ballyclose Street-A371 Church Street and vice versa.
    • Diversion 2: C570 Scroggy Road-C570 Greystone Road-A37 Broad Road and vice versa.

    During these times, signed diversionary routes will be in place via:-

    • Diversion 1:  A371 Rathmore Road-A371 Church Street -B201 Killane Road and vice versa.
    • Diversion 2: B201 Dowland Road-A2 Windyhill Road-A37 Broad Road-A37 Rathmore Road and vice versa.

    The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience, however, while measures have been taken to accommodate local access, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions. 

    Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works will be substantially complete by Friday 16 January 2026, however the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
