Minister Mallon said:

“Keeping people safe is my number one priority and I am committed to doing all that I can to help in the fight against COVID-19.  Sadly the pandemic is still very much with us and we need to do all we can collectively to drive down the rate of infection and support our health service which is facing another winter of unprecedented pressures.

“I know that over the last 18 months people across Northern Ireland have worked hard and made countless sacrifices to keep everyone safe and protect our health service.  Now is not the time to drop the ball, we cannot be complacent as we face into this challenging winter period.  We all must redouble our efforts and follow all the public health advice.  This includes getting the Covid-19 vaccine or booster when invited, taking regular lateral flow tests, wearing face coverings, limiting our social contacts and meeting outdoors where possible.  These messages will be displayed on my Department’s overhead road signs on key strategic routes to reinforce the steps we all should take to play our part.

"All of these measures can make a difference and help us to reduce the transmission rates of Covid-19, protecting our citizens, our businesses and our health service throughout this winter.”
