A £190,000 footway reconstruction scheme in Bangor will commence on Monday 28 February 2022.

The streets receiving footway upgrades are Clandeboye Way, Monea Close, Monea Way, Loverock Way, Monea Drive, Rostrevor Way, Rostrevor Drive and Rostrevor Close. The works are expected to last four weeks.

    Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said:

“This significant investment in upgrading the old flags with modern high quality footways will greatly improve usability of the footways for the benefit of all the residents in the area. I would like to thank the travelling public and local residents in advance for their cooperation while these much needed works are completed.”

Localised traffic control will be in place at various times during the scheme. Residents will be kept informed of ongoing arrangements. During the period of construction, local access for residents will be maintained at all times, albeit some delays may be experienced.

The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public. Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to follow the alternative routes which will be clearly signed on the approaches to the closure.

In order to help ensure the safety of road users and road workers, the public is asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to take extra care when travelling in the vicinity of the works.

Substantial completion of the work by the end of March is dependent on favourable weather conditions. The Department will keep the public informed of any change. All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of work in place for staff and contractors.
