Launch of recruitment competition for two Non-Executive Members for the Board of Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company (NITHC)
Date published:
The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) Minister Liz Kimmins has announced a recruitment campaign to appoint two Non-Executive Members to the Board of Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company (NITHC).
The Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company (NITHC) is a Public Corporation which was established by the Transport Act (NI) 1967. Its responsibilities include holding and managing property assets and the oversight, in terms of support, control and supervision, of its private limited subsidiary companies, the principal ones being Ulsterbus, Metro (previously Citybus) and Northern Ireland Railways, trading jointly as Translink. It is expected to operate commercially and has a duty to operate in line with Ministerial policy.
Minister Kimmins said:
“These are key positions as the organisation continues to progress its business-improvement strategy to ensure the ongoing efficiency of its operation and to continue to focus on the promotion of public transport.
“I would encourage anyone who considers that they meet the criteria for the posts and feel that they want to make a positive contribution to the work of NITHC, to apply.”
The time commitment for the post will be approximately two business days per month. Non-Executive Members will be expected to attend all Board meetings and other ad hoc meetings as required. The Non-Executive Members will receive remuneration of approximately £13,848 and reasonable travel and subsistence costs. Remuneration for Non-Executive Members chairing a subcommittee will be approximately £15,381.
The appointments will be effective from 1 October 2026 for a four-year term.
Applications will be welcomed from all sections of the community. Women, younger people, people with disabilities and people from ethnic minority communities are currently under-represented on DfI Boards. Applications from members of these groups would be particularly welcome.
