Kimmins announces road improvement scheme on Cromac Street, Belfast

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that a £220,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme for Cromac Street, Belfast will commence on Monday 8 June 2026.
The scheme will extend from Ormeau Avenue to the junction with Hamilton Street.
Minister Kimmins said:
“This substantial investment of £220,000 for Belfast City Centre will deliver significant benefits for road users and visitors and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank all road users for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”
To facilitate the scheme, daily lanes closures will be in place from 9.30 am until 3.30pm from Monday 8 June until Friday 12 June 2026.
A series of full road closures will then be required, beginning at 7:00 pm on Sunday 14 June through to 6:00 am on Monday 15 June. Overnight road closures will then be in place from Monday 15 June until Thursday 18 June 2026, between the hours of 8:00 pm and 6:00 am.
Some additional off-peak lane closures and night closures may also be required from 18 June until 26 June.
Diversionary routes will be clearly signed during periods of closure.
The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience to road users. However, whilst steps have been taken to accommodate local access, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works. Road users are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works are anticipated to be completed by 26 June 2026.The Department will however keep the public informed of any change.
