Date published:
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced a £627,000 resurfacing scheme for the C109 Grove Road, Ballymena.
The scheme extends between Ballyloughan Brow to Cushendall Road Roundabout, covering a total distance of 2.17km. The works will commence on Monday 10 August 2026 and are anticipated to last for a duration of 8 weeks.
Minister Kimmins said:
“This is a substantial investment for the Ballymena area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”
To facilitate the safe delivery of the scheme, it will be necessary to implement temporary traffic management arrangements from Monday 10 August 2026 for approximately 8 weeks, as detailed below:
- A lane closure will also be in place between Monday 10 August and Friday 28 August.
- A road closure will be operational from 9.30am to 4.30pm between Monday 31 August and Wednesday 7 October.
During the road closure, a signed diversionary route will be in place via:- A26 Ballymoney Road – A42 Parkway – A43 Cushendall Road and vice versa.
The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience. However, while steps have been taken to accommodate local access throughout the scheme, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works will be substantially complete by Wednesday 7 October 2026; however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
