Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that a £565,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on the Littlebridge Road and Tamlaght Road, Coagh will commence on Monday 10 March 2025.
The resurfacing scheme will extend approximately 1.6 kilometres along the Littlebridge Road and Tamlaght Road from No.55 Littlebridge Road to Bridgend Road.
Minister Kimmins said:
“This is a substantial investment for the Coagh area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to investing in and improving our rural road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”
To facilitate the safe delivery of the scheme it will be necessary to implement a lane closure utilising traffic signals which will be operational daily between the hours of 9.30am and 4.30pm from Monday 10 March 2025 to Friday 14 March 2025.
It will also be necessary to implement a full continuous road closure, from Moneyhaw Road to Bridgend Road, which will be operational each day and overnight from Monday 17 March to Friday 9 May 2025.
During the times of the road closure a diversionary route for Coagh bound traffic will be signed as follows:
C563 Littlebridge Road, C563 Lisnahall Road, B160 Ballynargan Road, B160 Urbal Road, B73 Hannover Square and B73 Bridgend Road.
This diversion route is not suitable for any vehicle with a gross weight over 7.5tonne and these vehicles will be diverted along the C563 Moneyhaw Road, C563 Bridger Street, A29 Stonard Street, B18 Conyngham Street, B18 Springhill Road and B18 Bridgend Road.
A diversionary route for all Cookstown bound traffic will be signed as follows:
B18 Bridgend Road, B18 Springhill Road, B18 Conyngham Street, A29 from Moneymore to Cookstown, B73 Molesworth Street and B73 Coagh Road.
The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience however, while steps have been taken to accommodate local access and Translink bus and school services throughout the scheme, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works will be substantially complete by Friday 9 May 2025, however the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
