Kimmins announces £390,000 road improvement scheme for Main Street, Moira
Date published:
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that a £390,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on A3 Main Street, Moira will commence on 14 September 2026.
The scheme will include essential resurfacing works on the carriageway from its junction with Station Road to its junction with Backwood Road.
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins said:
“This is a substantial investment which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our roads, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”
To minimise disruption during peak traffic periods the resurfacing works will be carried out utilising a series of lane closures and road closures between 14 September 2026 and 10 October 2026.
From 14 to 25 September 2026 lane closures will be in place each day from Monday to Friday between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm. From 21 September 2026 onwards overnight road closures will be utilised from Monday to Thursday between the hours of 9 pm and 6 am. During road closures a signed diversion route via Dromore and Lisburn will be in place.
The Department has programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience. However, whilst steps have been taken to accommodate local access, road users should expect some delays and allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works. Road users should also comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather conditions it is anticipated that the works will be substantially complete by 10 October 2026. The Department will keep the public informed of any changes.
