Kimmins announces £380,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme for A29 Stangmore Roundabout, Dungannon

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that a £380,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme at A29 Stangmore Roundabout, will commence on Saturday 14 March 2026.
The scheme includes structural patching and full width resurfacing of the entire roundabout junction. Short sections of the off-slips towards Moy and Dungannon will also be completed.
Minister Kimmins said:
“This is a substantial investment in the Dungannon area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents and road users for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”
To facilitate the safe delivery of the scheme and to minimise traffic impact, this work will be delivered during weekends and nightworks during March as follows:
- Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 - daytime road closures between 8 am to 6 pm
- Monday 16, Wednesday 18, Thursday 19 and Friday 20 - night time closure between 7.00 pm to 6.00 am
- Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 - daytime road closures between 8.00 am to 6.00 pm
- Monday 23 to Friday 28 - nighttime closure between 7.00 pm to 6.00 am
During this period, the road will be fully closed to all through traffic between the times stated above with signed diversions as follows:-
- Traffic from Dungannon travelling towards the M1 motorway and Moy will be diverted via A29 Moy Road, B517 Far Circular Road, B34 Killyman Road, B106 Trewmount Road, A29, Dungannon Road, Drumgannon Road, Moy Road and vice versa;
- Traffic from the East (M1) travelling Westbound to Dungannon will be diverted off the M1 at Tamnamore Roundabout onto B34 Tamnamore Road, B34 Killyman Road, B517 Far Circular Road, A29 Moy Road into Dungannon; and
- Traffic from the A4 Dual Carriageway travelling Eastbound to Dungannon will be diverted off the A4 at Granville via the A45 Granville Road, A45 Ballygawley Road into Dungannon.
Stangmore Roundabout will remain fully open to traffic all day on St’ Patricks Day, 17 March 26.
The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience. However, while steps have been taken to accommodate local access throughout the scheme, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works will be substantially complete by Friday 28 March 2026, however the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
