Kimmins announces £300,000 resurfacing works for C0663 Kevlin Road, Omagh

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that a £300,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on C0663 Kevlin Road will commence on Monday 28 September 2026.
The scheme will involve one kilometre of carriageway resurfacing and localised drainage improvements. The works will extend from Sunningdale to Dergmoney Heights.
Minister Kimmins said:
“This substantial investment of £300,000 road improvement scheme for Omagh. will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”
To facilitate the safe delivery of the scheme, it will be necessary to implement temporary traffic management arrangements, from 28 September 2026 until 29 October 2026, as detailed below:
Overnight Full Road Closures
- Weekdays from 28 September 2026 to 16 October 2026
- Weekdays from 26 October 2026 to 29 October 2026
- Closure times: 8:00 pm to 7:00 am
Daytime Full Road Closures
- Weekdays from 19 October 2026 to 23 October 2026
- Closure times: 9:30 am to 3:00 pm
Daily Lane Closures
- Weekdays from 28 September 2026 to 16 October 2026 and 26 October 2026 to 29 October 2026
- Lane closure times: 9:30 am to 3:00 pm
During the road closures, signed diversionary routes will be in place via: -
Diversion from U3001 Sunningdale junction: C0663 Kevlin Road - C0663 Kevlin Avenue - A0005 Great Northern Road - A005 Dublin Road Link - B0048 Dublin Road - C0663 Ballynahatty Road - C0663 Kevlin Road.
Diversion from U3032 Dergmoney Heights junction: C0663 Kevlin Road - C0663 Ballynahatty Road - B0048 Dublin Road – A0005 Great Northern Slip Road - A0005 Great Northern Road - C0663 Kevlin Avenue.
Local Access Arrangements
- Traffic from the Coolnagard Estate will be diverted from the Coolnagard Roundabout to the diversion route as works progress.
- Local access/egress will be maintained for residents in the works zone, but some delay should be expected depending upon the type of works ongoing at the time.
- Access to the Sacred Heart College will be maintained via Kevlin Avenue and Kevlin Road from the John Street junction approach.
- Townview Avenue will remain open at all times via access from the Dublin Road. This route should be used to access retail and business premises in the vicinity of Townview Avenue/Kevlin Road junction.
To help ensure the safety of road users and road workers, motorists are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with extra care when travelling in the vicinity of the works.
The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience however, while steps have been taken to accommodate local access road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works will be substantially complete by the 29 October 2026, however the Department will keep the public informed of any change
