Date published:
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that a £290,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on the B43 Pomeroy Road, Donaghmore, between Coolmaghery Road and the Tullyleek Road, will commence today, Monday 2 March 2026. The proposed scheme will include full width resurfacing of the carriageway for 1.5 kilometres plus additional substructure patching to strengthen the carriageway at various locations.
Minister Kimmins said:
“This is a substantial investment in the Donaghmore to Pomeroy route which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents and road users for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”
To facilitate the safe delivery of the scheme, it will be necessary to implement a road closure from Monday 2March 2026 for five weeks. During this period, the road will be fully closed to all through traffic between 8:00am and 6:00pm daily with a signed diversion route in each direction as follows:B43 Pomeroy Road, B160 Tanderagee Road, B160 Annaghquin Road, A29 Cookstown Road, C636 Tullycullion Road, B43 Main Street, B43 Pomeroy Road and vice versa.
The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience. However, while steps have been taken to accommodate local access throughout the scheme, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works will be substantially complete by Saturday 4 April 2026, however the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
