    Date published: 4 September 2025

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that a £160,000 carriageway reconstruction and resurfacing scheme at U1017 Ferry Road, Coalisland, will commence on Monday 8 September 2025.

£160,000 road scheme for Ferry Road, Coalisland

The scheme will target two sections of Ferry Road which have suffered from subsidence between Derryloughan Road (West) and Derryloughan Road (East) and includes the excavation, reconstruction and resurfacing of 320 metres of carriageway.

    Minister Kimmins said:

“This is a substantial investment in the Coalisland area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local road users for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”

To facilitate the safe delivery of the scheme, it will be necessary to implement a road closure from Monday 8 September 2025 for five weeks until Friday 10 October 2025. During this period, the road will be fully closed to all traffic with a signed diversion route in each direction via the U1018_02 Derryloughan Road, U1018_01 Derryloughan Road.

The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public. Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to follow the alternative routes which will be clearly signed on the approaches to the closure.

Completion of the work is subject to favorable weather conditions; however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change. All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.
