    Date published: 12 October 2026

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that a £1.4million carriageway resurfacing scheme on the A4 Annaghilla Road, Augher will commence on Saturday 17 October 2026.

The resurfacing scheme extends for approximately 4.35 kilometres between C0650 Feddan Road and U0419 Annaloughan Road (west junction).

    Minister Kimmins said:

“This is a substantial investment of £1.4million in the A4 trunk route between Ballygawley and Augher which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”

To facilitate the safe delivery of the scheme, it will be necessary to implement temporary traffic management arrangements, from 17 October 2026 until 16 November 2026, as detailed below:

    • A lane closure to temporarily close the A4 Annaghilla Road Westbound Lane from its junction C0650 Feddan Road to the C0651 Annaghilla Road (east junction) will commence at 5.00am on Saturday 17 October until 5.00am on Saturday 24 of October 2026.

During this lane closure, the following traffic diversion will be in operation:

Westbound traffic will be diverted via the A5 Tullyvar Road, B0128 Favour Royal Road and the B0128 Main Street, Augher.

    • A road closure on the A4 Annaghilla Road from its junction with C0651 Annaghilla Road (east junction) to C0651 Annaghilla Road (west junction) will be operational from 5.00am on Saturday 17 October until 5.00am on Saturday 24 of October 2026.

During this road closure, the following traffic diversions will be in operation:

Eastbound traffic will be diverted via the C0651 Annaghilla Road.

Westbound traffic will be diverted via the A5 Tullyvar Road, B0128 Favour Royal Road and the B0128 Main Street, Augher.

    • A weekend road closure on the A4 Annaghilla Road from its junction with C0650 Feddan Road to its junction with the U0419 Annaloughan Road (west junction) from 5.00am on Saturday 24 October until 6.00am on Monday 26 of October 2026.

During the road closure, the following traffic diversions will be in operation:

Westbound traffic will be diverted via the A5 Tullyvar Road, B0128 Favour Royal Road and the B0128 Main Street, Augher and vice versa for Eastbound traffic.

HGV traffic will be diverted via the A5 route from Ballygawley to Omagh and along the A32 route through Dromore, Irvinestown to Enniskillen and vice versa.

    • A temporary 40mph speed limit on the A4 Annaghilla Road from its junction with U0419 Annaloughan Road (west junction) to its junction with C0650 Feddan Road and on the C0651 Annaghilla Road for its entire length commencing on Saturday 17 October to Monday 16 November 2026.
    • A temporary 50mph speed limit on the A4 Dual Carriageway from a point one mile east of the new A5 Ballygawley Roundabout to its junction with the roundabout for its entire length commencing on Saturday 17 October to Monday 16 November 2026.
    • Further overnight and weekend closures will be notified on the TrafficWatchNI portal for week commencing Monday 26tOctober 2026 onwards subject to weather conditions.
    • All affected roads will remain closed overnight during the closure periods.

Traffic signs will be in place to indicate all temporary diversion routes and traffic restrictions.

The Department has programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience, however, while measures have been taken to accommodate local access, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.

Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works will be substantially complete by the 16 November 2026, however the Department will keep the public informed of any change.
