  • Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins issues statement on comments made by Judge McAlinden

    Date published: 12 September 2025

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has issued a statement on comments made by Mr Justice McAlinden in the matter of an application by Jamie Bryson for Judicial Review at the High Court.

Minister Kimmins - Department for Infrastructure

    Minister Kimmins said:

“I note the comments of Mr Justice McAlinden and agree it could be worked out through dialogue  - something I have attempted to do on more than one occasion.

“I remain willing to do so and believe this is the best way to avoid legal action and the unnecessary use of public funds.  The position has always been that my decision to provide bilingual signage is entirely consistent with my responsibility as Minister for Infrastructure.  Grand Central Station is an all-island transport hub and visibility of the Irish language is important in delivering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all our people.”
