Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins announces £757,000 road improvement scheme on Belsize Road, Lisburn

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that a £757,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on Belsize Road, Lisburn will commence on Monday 19 October 2026.
The scheme will include essential resurfacing works between Kirkwood’s Road and Boomers Road alongside improvements to kerbs and footways.
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins said:
“This is a substantial investment which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our roads, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”
To minimise disruption, the resurfacing works will be carried out using off-peak lane closures between 9.30am and 4.30pm daily. Road closures will be required towards the end of the scheme to complete the works.
The Department has programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience. However, whilst steps have been taken to accommodate local access, road users should expect some delays and allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works. Road users should also comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather conditions it is anticipated that the works will be substantially complete by 17 March 2027. The Department will keep the public informed of any changes.
