New online driver licensing services allowing drivers to renew their licence, change an address or order a duplicate licence are now available online.

The service is available on the NI Direct website at:

These services are the first in a series of digital service improvements being offered by the Department for Infrastructure’s Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA).

Since December, more than 380 people have already used the new online services during the testing period.

Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) Chief Executive Paul Duffy, commenting on the new online services said:

“Last year we processed around 155,000 driving licence renewals, as well as 27,000 requests for a change of details and issued 17,000 replacement licences.

“These new online services allow the public to begin to make these applications online through nidirect, resulting in faster turnaround times.  This is just a first step in the Department’s digital services strategy and we will continue to enhance our online services over the coming months to allow the uploading of photographs and signatures for some online applications.  Our intention is to move towards all of our driver licensing services being available online.”
