  • Casement Park - LA04/2017/0474/F - Complaints alleging breach of planning control

    Topics:
    • Planning,
    • Regionally Significant Developments and Called-in Applications

    Date published: 4 March 2024

DfI Planning has received to date 63no. pieces of correspondence from 3rd parties raising complaint with respect works at Casement Park.

The Department would advise that, one of the key objectives of the two-tier planning system is that local councils should be responsible for planning control decisions, including enforcement action, in their own areas. Councils have the primary responsibility for enforcement regarding a planning permission for development granted by the Department and under the Planning Act (NI) 2011, councils have a range of enforcement powers available to them.

It is therefore advised that any further complaints alleging a breach of planning control in relation to this planning permission should be directed to Belfast City Council planning enforcement section. Any complaints received to date by the Department will be sent to Belfast City Council for their consideration.

The Department, however, remains the appropriate authority for the discharge of any planning conditions but to date has not received any such application on behalf of the GAA. Any discharges once received will be uploaded to the planning portal.
